<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp with high versatility that can be used easily by only being connected to a commercial power supply even if power consumption is different. <P>SOLUTION: The discharge lamp is provided with an arc tube 1 having one of a ring shape, a straight tube shape, and a compact type, a lighting circuit 3 to light the arc tube 1, and a base 4 having connecting pins p1-p4 for connecting a commercial power supply to the lighting circuit 3.
