<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface acoustic wave element capable of measuring electric characteristics precisely; and to provide a surface acoustic wave device, a method of manufacturing the surface acoustic wave device, a communication device, a transmitter, and a receiver. <P>SOLUTION: A first output pad electrode 18a and a second input pad electrode 36a are provided closely each other at a predetermined interval t1 on a first surface Z1 of a piezoelectric substrate 11.
