<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To replace a lamp from the front part or the side part of an illumination mount. <P>SOLUTION: The illuminator 101 is equipped with a lamp disposing mechanism 102 holding the lamp 11, and also attachably/detachably disposing the lamp 11 under a sample through an aperture part 1a provided on the front part of the illumination mount 1. The lamp disposing mechanism 102 is constituted by using a turning shaft 14 fixed on the illumination mount 1, a holding part 13 attached to the turning shaft 14 turnably in its periphery direction, a lamp socket 12 held at the edge part of the holding part 13, and a knob 15 fixed at the side part of the holding part 13.
