PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support control device for a vehicle capable of speedily changing it over to emergency avoiding control from control by a driver taking an obstruction avoiding action when it is judged that emergency avoidance is necessary while reflecting an intention of the obstruction avoiding action of the driver. SOLUTION: This support control device for the vehicle is furnished with a normal time vehicle steering means 10D to drive a steering system of the vehicle in correspondence with steering quantity of the driver in avoidance operation of an obstruction and an emergent time obstruction avoiding means 6 to carry out obstruction avoiding control while reflecting the obstruction avoiding action of the driver as an emergent event in judging that avoidance of the obstruction is impossible in accordance with the avoiding control by the normal time vehicle steering means 10D in accordance with a position of the obstruction and a travelling state of the driver's own vehicle.
