PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly-reliable warm-up device for an internal combustion engine, ensuring nucleation of a heat storage material for inducing its phase change. SOLUTION: A spacer 3 is accommodated in a water jacket 2 for cooling a surrounding area of a cylinder wall 12 of a cylinder block 1. In the spacer, a latent heat type heat storage material X is accommodated, and a nucleating device 4 is also provided for nucleating the heat storage material, which is in a super-cooled condition when an engine starts, and for inducing the phase change, to thereby release heat. The nucleating device is provided with a bimetal 41 and a heater 42. A temperature change brings about a change in the state of the bimetal, that is, a first stable state and a second stable state.
