PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact type displacement detector capable of decreasing the working man hour in specifying the upper limit and lower limit of the tolerance without reducing the measuring accuracy. SOLUTION: The contact type displacement detector specifies the upper limit and lower limit of the tolerance based on a user operation and outputs the comparing result between the measurement value of the displacement amount of a movable section 21 brought into contact with an inspected object A and the upper limit and lower limit. The contact type displacement detector comprises a holder 25 for holding the movable section 21 removably, a displacement amount detecting section 61 for detecting the displacement amount of the movable section 21 with respect to the holder 25 and determining the measurement value, a reference value storage section 65 for storing the reference value acquired using master workpiece A2 as the inspected object, an allowable error specifying section 66 for specifying one allowable error based on the user operation, a tolerance determining section 67 for calculating the upper limit and lower limit based on the reference value and allowable error, and output sections 70a-70c of the comparing result.
