PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce quantity of water consumed by effectively utilizing ice making residual water remaining in a water tank and water tray washing water, which had been discharged heretofore, in a reverse cell type ice maker. SOLUTION: This reverse cell type ice maker includes: a cooling device 1 having a number of ice making chambers 2 opened downward; the water tray 4 disposed to tilt and reciprocate to close the cooling device 1 from below in a horizontal closing position, and provided with jet holes 6 positioned opposite to the respective ice making chambers 2; the water tank 8 provided integral with the water tray 4 and receiving the water from the top face of the water tray 4 to store the water; a circulating pump 10 pumping up the water in the water tank 8 and jetting the water from the jet holes 6; and a water sprinkler 13 for sprinkling water on the top face of the water tray 4, wherein the water tank 8 includes a drain valve 25, which presents a structure in which water remains in the interior when the water tray 4 is located in an inclined open position for opening the ice making chambers 2 of the cooling device 1 and discharging the water in the water tank 8, and when an ice making process is performed predetermined number of times, the drain valve 25 is opened.
