PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep treated water quality while suppressing the cost, in a filtration system removing impurities such as non-dissolvable matter contained in raw water by a filter medium and its operation method. SOLUTION: In this filtration system 1, a raw water line 3 and a treated water line 4 are connected to a filtration means 2 removing impurities contained in raw water by the filter medium, and an oxidant adding means 11 and a flocculant adding means 12 are connected to the raw water line 3 as a chemical injection means of chemicals used for removing impurities. The system is provided with a water quality detection means 13 for turbidity or chromaticity of raw water added with the chemicals or treated water; and a dilution water feed means 8 feeding dilution water to the raw water line 3, when the detected value of the water quality detection means 13 exceeds a given turbidity or chromaticity.
