PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink-jet head drive device and method capable of maintaining high-precision image recording for a long time by preventing defective discharge of ink even when the same image pattern is continuously formed by a full-line type ink-jet head. SOLUTION: In the full-line type ink-jet head drive device having droplet discharge nozzles arranged in the direction of entire width of a recording medium and a drive method, an image part in which pixels serving as an image or pixels serving as non-image have a predetermined continuous number is calculated from recording image data, and the image recording position on the recording medium is changed before and after the predetermined continuous number of the calculated pixels.
