PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the normal state of relative rotating motion by planetary motion even if a valve timing adjusting device in which a differential gear mechanism formed mainly of a planetary gear is used performs relative rotating motion at high speed. SOLUTION: This valve timing adjusting device comprises a first rotating body 20 having a first gear 22 and rotating together with a camshaft 2, a second rotating body 10 having a second gear 14 and rotating together with a crankshaft, and a third rotating body 50 having a third gear 54 and a fourth gear 52 meshed with the first gear and the second gear, respectively, and capable of integrally performing planetary motion. The relative rotation phase between the first rotating body and the second rotating body is changed by the planetary motion of the third rotating body. The valve timing adjusting device further comprises a stopper 23C radially installed to the first rotating body for restricting the changed relative rotation phase angle between the first rotating body and the second rotating body and holding assemblies 12, 13 installed to the second rotating body and so axially holding the stopper as to be rotatable relative to each other.
