The arrangement has an airbag (2) comprising an inlet port (4) connected with a gas producing unit (3), which is designed as an axial opening of a tube section (5) having a longitudinal axis. The tube section is formed at a main section (10), which has an inflatable area (6), where the longitudinal axis of the tube section stands perpendicular to the main section. The tube section is pivoted in such a manner that the effective length of the tube section is shortened in the assembled condition of the airbag arrangement. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling an airbag arrangement.
