摘要 <p>Active substance fraction from Rheum species, to treat and prevent e.g. inflammatory diseases, where the preparation of active substance fraction comprises: extracting dried and ground root samples with methanol; separating lipophilic material from the formed aqueous phase; agitating the purified aqueous phase with ethylacetate; column chromatographically separating the resulting aqueous phase and the combined ethylacetate phase to a limited number of active substance fractions; and condensing the active substance fraction with same content spectrum. Active substance fraction from Rheum species for treating and preventing inflammatory or autoimmune disorder and/or diseases associated with keratinocyte proliferation disturbances, where the preparation of active substance fraction comprises: extracting dried and ground root samples with methanol; separating lipophilic material from the formed aqueous phase under complete removal of methanol; agitating the purified aqueous phase with ethylacetate; separately processing the resulting aqueous phase and the combined ethylacetate phase; column chromatographically separating the resulting aqueous phase and the combined ethylacetate phase to a limited number of active substance fractions; and condensing the active substance fraction with same content spectrum. ACTIVITY : Antiinflammatory; Immunosuppressive; Antiarthritic; Antirheumatic; Gastrointestinal-Gen; Antiulcer; Antipsoriatic; Dermatological; Antimicrobial; Vulnerary. MECHANISM OF ACTION : Interleukin (IL)-1beta and/or IL-2-mRNA-expression inducer; Transforming growth factor (TGF)-beta 1 inducer; IL-1beta or IL-2 suppressor. The ability of the active substance fraction to modulate IL-2-mRNA expression of human phytohaemagglutinin stimulated mononuclear cell. The result showed that the active substance fraction significantly induced the IL-2-mRNA-expression.</p>
