A novel Lactobacillus rhamnosus strain is provided to inhibit growth of harmful bacteria or viruses such as Salmonella or influenza virus in a living body, so that the strain is useful in health food, drink, feed and feed additives. A Lactobacillus rhamnosus M21(KCTC 10965BP) strain shows the inhibitory activity against Salmonella or influenza virus in a living body and is used in fermented food, fermented beverage, feed and feed additives. The Lactobacillus rhamnosus M21(KCTC 10965BP) strain is cultured in medium prepared by mixing purified glucose and yeast extract with an upper water layer obtained by dipping malt, rice bran and seaweeds in distilled water.
