<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To materialize an operation which is stable covering a wide temperature range, while protecting circuit parts, in an inverter which has an electrolytic capacitor for its input circuit part. <P>SOLUTION: The input part of the inverter includes an electrolytic capacitor 13. This inverter is provided with a detection/protection circuit 14 between the electrolytic capacitor 13 and a switching circuit 12. The detection/protection circuit 14 comprises resistors R1-R4 and capacitors C1-C3. The detection/protection circuit 14 detects the input voltage Vin-1 to be used as a parameter for a microcomputer to control the operation of a switching circuit 12 and the input voltage Vin-2 to be used for judgment about whether a stop circuit should stop the switching circuit 12 compulsively or not.
