PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera, wherein consumption of its power supply is prevented by displaying a through-image, in a state where a lens cap or the like is left mounted and the power supply being turned off, when object luminance is temporarily decreased is prevented, then. SOLUTION: Before start of the through-image display (steps S9, S73), the digital camera measures the object luminance (steps S1, S61), decides whether the luminance or a value associated with the luminance is a prescribed value or smaller, or is less than the prescribed value (steps S2, S62), and the digital camera displays a warning; when the luminance is a prescribed value or smaller, or is less than the prescribed value, as a result of the decision.
