PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct drive type electric power steering device capable of sufficiently absorbing a shock energy applied to a steering shaft in a secondary collision. SOLUTION: In the direct drive type electric power steering device, the steering shaft is internally fitted to both ends of a rotor 72 by appropriate length respectively, and separately constituted into two shafts of an upper shaft 11 and a lower shaft 12 opposite to each other with an inside cavity of the rotor 72. The electric power steering device is equipped with a cylindrical body 8 to be a resistance apply means for applying the resistance to one side or both sides of the upper shaft 11 and the lower shaft 12 in the inner side of the inside cavity, and constituted so as to apply the resistance to the upper shaft 11 and the lower shaft 12 moving in the axial length direction by the cylindrical body 8. In the result, since moving stroke under a predetermined sliding resistance can be secured by effectively utilizing the inside cavity of the rotor 72, a shock energy applied on the steering shaft in case of secondary collision can be sufficiently absorbed.
