PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device having high efficiency and excellent durability by having a specific chemical compound contained in one or more organic compound layers, each of which has a light-emitting layer between a pair of electrodes. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent device has one or more organic compound layers, each of which has a light-emitting layer between a pair of electrodes, wherein at least one of the organic compound layers contains a chemical compound represented by the formula (Z). In the formula, R<SP>31</SP>and R<SP>32</SP>each represent a hydrogen atom or a substituent; R3A represents a substituent other than an aromatic hetero ring bonding through a nitrogen atom, or a hydrogen atom; X<SP>31</SP>to X<SP>38</SP>each represent a substituted or unsubstituted carbon atom or a nitrogen atom; and Y<SP>31</SP>to Y<SP>33</SP>each represent a nitrogen atom or C-R<SP>3B</SP>(R<SP>3B</SP>represents a substituent other than an aromatic hetero ring bonding through a nitrogen atom, or a hydrogen atom).
