PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medicine for treating or preventing acnes exhibiting more excellent effects than conventional medicines for treating or preventing acne that suppresses synthesis of fatty acids thereby to decrease the synthesized amount of fat. SOLUTION: A hydroxycitric acid derivative represented by formula (I) or a salt thereof is used for manufacturing the medicine for treating or preventing acne. In formula (I), R1is an acyl group composed of a residue of a 2-30C aliphatic carboxylic acid or a 7-30C aromatic carboxylic acid optionally having a branch, an unsaturated bond or a substituent group.
