PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pump vessel which efficiently agitates the interior thereof when stored water is drained by means of a submersible pump 2, and prevents adhesion of fats and fatty oils to a vessel internal wall surface, deposition of sludge, and remaining of scum in the vessel. SOLUTION: The submersible pump 2 of the pump vessel 1 is provided with: a vessel interior agitator 3 for agitating the interior of the vessel by discharging part or all of pump discharge flow into the vessel over a constant time period at the beginning of operation of the submersible pump 2. Then a preliminary swirling vessel 4 is arranged on a vessel bottom having a revolving recess 16 into which the stored water flows while being swirled as the water level is lowered, and an intake port 20a of the submersible pump 2 is arranged in the revolving recess 16. Thus when the vessel interior agitator 3 is located above a location at which the swirling flow by the preliminary swirling vessel 4 is generated, it discharges part or all of the pump discharge flow into the vessel.
