PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat embossing method which is excellent in irregularity forming capacity, and which hardly melts an object sheet. SOLUTION: When the object sheet 1 at least either of the front and back sides of which is composed of a nonwoven fabric is embossed by means of rolls 3 and 4 which is heated at 100-150°C, moisture is preretained in the nonwoven fabric by a moisture imparting device 2, and the object sheet 1 is heat-embossed in this moisture deposition state by means of the rolls 3 and 4.
