A flexible wall container has an agitator (5,6) head attached to a shaft (8) and a ferromagnetic connector (10), which are inserted into the container at the time of its manufacture. A permanent magnetic coupling (14) on the outside of the container allows a drive unit (4) to provide agitation of liquid contents via induced longitudinal shaft movements. The device may have multiple drives (4,4',4'') and magnetic couplings (19,20; 19',20'; 19'',20) which can apply a phased succession of longitudinal movements to the agitator shaft, and may also be able to provide some rotation of the agitator (claimed).
