The piston (1) has a cavity hole (2) with an expansion body (3), which is arranged, and is made of a material with large thermal expansion co-efficient like the material of the expansion body of surrounding piston wall (W) of the piston. A cylindrical piston tread (L) at cold piston and at operating temperature has a convex contour (K) of the piston tread, which is seen in longitudinal section and is produced by a temperature dependent elastic deformation. The piston is made of steel and the expansion body consists of aluminum or an aluminum alloy.
