An automotive component (1) has a formed body (3) made of a first section of shape retaining plastic (5) and a second section (6) cut from a flexible web material (7). One edge (8) of the flexible web material is bonded to the plastic body (6) by sprayed application of plastic. The flexible web is e.g. leather, artificial leather or a textile.
