The fan 2 of a thermal storage space heater 1 is controlled by one or other of two circuits 5, 6 selectable by a. change-over switch 8, the circuit 6 providing a space temperature determined by the setting of a thermostat 9 and the circuit 5 providing a higher space temperature in accordance with the setting of a thermostat 10. The circuit 5 also includes a pre-payment or similar meter 11 calibrated to charge for the extra heat used. Mention is made of applying the invention to non-electrical space heating apparatus, e.g. control of a valve in a ducted air or hot water circulating central heating system fired in any known manner. Overriding control may be exercised by the thermostat 10 instead of the switch 8. Another modification envisages the current path 5 being additional to the path 6 instead of alternative as described above.</p> |
