A multi-port valve comprises a tubular body member 12 closed at each end and having a plurality. of fluid communicating openings 26 in a tubular wall thereof, a rotatable gate member 24 extended axially within the tubular body member being adapted to divide the interior of the body member into two substantially equal compartments, the gate member being axially supported in the body member and adapted to be rotated by means of a handle outside the body member. In Fig. 3, the gate member comprises a parallelsides axial main portion with a semicircular portion at each end. The periphery of the member formed is in fluid-tight engagement with the walls 36 of the body member, and is provided with two continuous gasket members each supported in a continuous groove. Leakage between the two compartments formed can be detected by opening a test valve 56 in communication with the region between the two gaskets. The valve body preferably has four openings and fluid flow between these may be controlled by the gate member 24 as shown by the two positions of the member (plain and dotted) shown in Fig. 2. As an alternative, the semicircular end portions of the gate member may be replaced by circular end portions with the same gasket arrangement as before, or incorporating four gaskets as shown in Fig. 7. An arrangement of a six port valve is shown in Fig. 10, in which two positions of the gate member are drawn giving two flow variations. The thickness of the axial section of the gate member is such that it is thinner than the diameter of the ports, resulting in continuous flow during rotation of the gate member.</p>
