PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio receiver capable of preventing improper halt of search resulting from a digital modulation signal in an HD radio broadcast wave. SOLUTION: An electric field intensity of an IF signal is detected by an S-meter detector 8, and a frequency of the IF signal is detected by an IF counter detector 9. A power detector 12 detects a strength of a signal having passed through a band-pass filter 11 that transmits a signal in a predetermined frequency band from a detected signal of the IF signal. A controller 10 judges whether a signal having a broadcasting frequency of a desired station is being received based on the electric field intensity detected by the S-meter detector 8, the frequency detected by the IF counter detector 9, and the signal strength detected by the power detector 12.
