PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for production by which a crystal of 5-aminolevulinic acid hydrochloride having characteristic peaks of 20.7°±0.1°, 21.1°±0.1°and 23.7°±0.1°as diffraction angles 2θin a powder X-ray diffraction spectrum is produced in high purity. SOLUTION: The method for producing the crystal of the 5-aminolevulinic acid hydrochloride having the characteristic peaks of 20.7°±0.1°, 21.1°±0.1°and 23.7°±0.1°as the diffraction angles 2θis characterized by that solvent-mediated transition is carried out.
