The system has a sorting device, where printed sheets are discharged into the device from a production process. The sheets are detected and image signals are processed, where the sheets have number of partial images. Data of the partial images are evaluated with respect to their length and/or image content and are stored in storage memory for analysis by an image processing algorithm. The data, which are obtained by the image processing algorithm, are stored in another storage memory for analysis by the algorithm. An independent claim is also included for a method of quality control by an image inspection system.
