PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability of the recorded information in perpendicular magnetic recording. SOLUTION: A noise level detector 150 is provided in the data channel 130 of a magnetic storage 100 equipped with a perpendicular magnetic recording medium 110 to detect the noise level of the reproduced signals 132 to determine the acceptability. Immediately after writing recording signals 131 on a perpendicular magnetic recording medium 110, the noise level is checked for the reproduced signals 132 read from the writing area. By repeating erasing and rewriting until the noise level becomes lower than the predetermined value, the reliability of the recorded signals 131 is improved for the perpendicular magnetic recording medium 110.
