PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of preventing fall of luminance of a screen even while suppressing generation of moving blur. SOLUTION: The display device 1 continuously accepts an input of an image signal for displaying an image updated with a predetermined cycle on a display panel (Step S1); groups consecutive similar images based on the accepted image signal (Step S2); and when the image group is changed over (Step S3), the display device decides that the image to be displayed is not similar to the image before predetermined, and puts off a light source when updating the image so that the light source radiates the light (Step S4). Then the display device 1 of this invention, when the group is not changed over (NO at Step S3), decides that the image to be displayed is similar to the image before updating, and maintains an emitting light quantity when updating the image (Step S5).
