PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely retain articles by stretching an article protection net to a rack front face before a main earthquake, secure its operation even under a power failure, prevent slack of the once-stretched protection net, enable its post-installation on the article storage rack and prevent the falling of the articles from the rack. SOLUTION: One end of the article protection net 4 is fixed to the front part of a shelf board 3 of the article storage rack 1 supporting the shelf board 3 with shelf board support members 2, the other end is formed into a tubular shape, a support shaft 5 is passed therein, its both ends are connected to wires 7 via support bushes 6, the wire is connected to a weight 8 placed on the rack 1 in non-operation state, and the weight is fallen by a solenoid 9 operating before an earthquake to position the protection net 4 on the front face of the shelf board 3 so that the protection net 4 is stretched to the front face of the rack before the main earthquake. This constitution can secure the operation of the device even under a power failure, surely retain the articles by stretching the protection net in the width direction from the lower part to the upper part without any clearance, retain the once-stretched protection in a non-slacking manner, and enable it to be easily attached to the storage rack as post-installation.
