The method involves delivering a signal by an inline measuring device (21) in a sheet printing machine (1) to a colorimeter (20), when determining colorimetry values included on a print substrate (9) for a preset period in a preset tolerance field. Colorimetry is performed on the print substrate based on the delivery of the signal with the colorimeter, where the preset time corresponds to a preset number of print substrates. The inline measuring device and the colorimeter are connected with each other by a communication link (22).
