The method involves discharging powder airflow from a nozzle beam (14). The powder airflow is adjusted such that a resultant force is generated by the discharged powder airflow, where the force acts on a printed sheet (4) and amounts to 0.5 Newton to 16 Newton. The printed sheet is conveyed by a conveyor (77) at the nozzle beam, and a trailing sheet end (4.2) of the printed sheet is fixed by the conveyor. The trailing sheet end and a leading sheet end (4.1) of the printed sheet are held by front and rear gripper beams (11, 12) of the conveyor, respectively. An independent claim is also included for a printing machine for executing a method for applying a powder on a printed sheet.
