A valve comprises a movable valve member 31, Fig. 3, having a seating surface which makes metal to metal contact with the valve seat 29. The valve member 31 is formed by two members 46, 47 between which is clamped a resilient ring 49 which projects from the faces 54, 55 of the member in the open position and is compressed on closing the valve to provide a seal. The inner end of the ring extends into a chamber 52 open to the downstream side of the valve, e.g. through the screw-thread by which the parts 46, 47 are connected. The ring may be located between two valve seat parts instead of the movable closure member. As shown in Fig. 1, the invention is applied to a valve in which the valve member 31 is connected to a diaphragm 13 which is subjected to a fluid pressure loading in housing 15 and to the outlet pressure through passage 25.</p> |
