The heater (1) has a structure (3) which is arranged in a medium and is expanded towards a heat conducting surface. The structure has ribs through which a medium flows, where the medium passes through an opening and/or a channel. A portion of the structure is arranged near or directly at a heating unit (2), in a specific region. Current flow and current discharge occurs from a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) unit in a specific region. The cross section of the PTC unit varies along the current flow direction.
