A hook 10 has two mousing-pieces pivoted at 14, on lugs 12 either on the hook shank or on a split collar, Figs. 3, 4a and 4b (not shown), clamped on the hook shank. One mousing-piece 18 has a U-shaped limb 18b normally embracing the hook body as shown but to be lifted manually to raise the hook-closing limb 18a (to the ghost-line position indicated) when a rope &c. is to be released from the hook. The other mousing-piece is a tapered tongue 16 whose tip rests on the outside of the hook tip 10a to prevent entry of unwanted loads and which needs to be lifted manually to allow a rope &c. to enter. The pieces 16, 18 may be spring- loaded. |
