A cross bar is provided to couple easily a locking unit into the cross bar while forming internal spaces for mounting the locking unit to each joint portion. A cross bar(20) includes a pair of joint portions(22) coupled to rails arranged on inner surfaces of a pair of side bars fixed on a vehicle; and a tube-shaped connection portion(24) for interconnecting the joint portions. The cross bar is arranged to be movable in forward and rearward directions along the side bars. The joint portions and the connection portion are integrally injection molded from a plastic material, and the connection portion has an open top coupled to a top plate(26) of the cross bar.
