An LCD and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to improve brightness by removing a reflection electrode formed at a position where reflection efficiency is not high and using that area as a transmission area. A transparent electrode(192) is formed on a first substrate. A reflection electrode(194) is formed on the transparent electrode, and has a plurality of cut patterns(A) and an aperture exposing the transparent electrode. A second substrate faces the first substrate. A common electrode(270) is formed on the second substrate. The transparent electrode includes a concave first portion, a convex second portion, and a third portion between the first portion and the second portion, and the cut pattern is placed in the third portion.
