摘要 A signal relay system and method in a communication system are provided to meet the demand for a signal relay scheme capable of increasing the throughput of a communication system. The data rate of an AMC(Adaptive Modulation and Coding) mode, used for maximizing the data rate in the first link between a source node and a destination node, a second link between the source node and a relay node, and a third link between the relay node and the destination node, is calculated(411). The first data rate, namely, a data rate when a multi-hop mode is used to transmit a signal between the source node and the destination node is calculated(413). The first optimum data rate, namely, an optimum data rate when transmission modes that can be used for transmitting a signal between the source node and the destination node are a direct mode and the multi-hop mode is calculated(415). The AMC mode to be used for the first link is determined, and when the determined AMC mode is used, the second data rate, namely, a data rate of the first link, is determined(417). When a signal transmitted from the source node to the destination node includes a basic message and a superposed message, an effective SNR(Signal-to-Noise Ratio) required for decoding the superposed message after the basic message is decoded is calculated(419). The third rate, namely, a data rate at which the superposed message is reliably transmitted is determined(421).
