<p>A method and a system for transmitting data in a mobile communication system are provided to decrease the amount of data to be transmitted between BTS(Base Transceiver Stations), to minimize the duration of communication interruption in handover, and to improve the quality of communication in handover. A BTS comprises a buffer section(301), a control section(303), a wireless transceiver(306), an XU interface(307), and an XUB interface(308). The buffer section(301) stores downlink data packets, uplink data packets, and other packets. The control section(303) manages the buffer section(301), based on a buffer management table(302), executes scheduling for packet transmission and reception, and segments undelivered packets. The control section(303) comprises an HO controller(304) and a segmentation controller(305). The wireless transceiver(306), controlled by the control section(303), executes wireless communication between the BTS and mobile stations. Communication with a gateway is executed through the XU interface(307), and communication with other BTSs is executed through the XUB interface(308). The HO controller(304) establishes an HO activation time using an air interface transmission rate and an XUB transmission rate, and sets a timer for the HO activation time.</p> |
