NEW GENE AND POLYPEPTIDES OF NATURAL KILLER ENHANCING FACTOR B

A novel polypeptide of NKEF-B(Natural Killer-Enhancing Factor B) and a gene thereof are provided to activate natural killer cells and T-cells, so that they are useful for treatment of cancer and AIDS(Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). A novel polypeptide of NKEF-B(Natural Killer-Enhancing Factor B) comprises the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:2. A gene encoding the polypeptide of NKEF-B comprises 66th to 622nd nucleotides in the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:1 and is isolated from Cervus elaphus. The polypeptide of NKEF-B is produced by transforming a host cell such as Escherichia coli with a recombinant vector containing the NKEF-B gene and culturing the transformed host cell. A composition for treating cancer or AIDS comprises the polypeptide of NKEF-B.
