A positive electrode for a lithium secondary battery, a lithium secondary battery containing the positive electrode, and a method for preparing the lithium secondary battery are provided to increase capacity and to prevent gelation. A positive electrode comprises a positive electrode current collector; and a positive electrode active material layer formed on at least one surface of the positive electrode current collector, wherein the positive electrode active material layer comprises a positive electrode active material comprising a lithium compound capable of intercalating and deintercalating a lithium ion, a binder, and a gelation inhibitor. Preferably the gelation inhibitor is a surfactant containing a sulfonic acid group (-SO3H).
