A planar light source device, a manufacturing method of the planar light source device, and a backlight unit including the planar light source device are provided to omit a separate process of forming a passivation layer by using aluminum as a material of an electrode. A light source body includes a plurality of discharge spaces(140) in which a discharge gas is injected, and an electrode(150) formed at an outer surface of the light source body, including aluminum and applying a voltage to the discharge gas. A passivation layer(153,155) is formed on the electrode. The passivation layer includes aluminum oxide. The resistance of the electrode is 10Ф or less. The light source body includes a first substrate(111), a second substrate(112) disposed on the first substrate, a sealing member(130) disposed at edges of the first and second substrates and defining an internal space separated from the outside, and partition walls(120) disposed between the first and second substrates to define the internal space into the plurality of discharge spaces.
