An apparatus for controlling multimedia bi-directional transmission with multiple group functions is provided to allow a user of a main controller to perform a control operation such that users of sub-controllers make a study or a meeting of various subjects according to groups while viewing various videos. A main controller(200) connected to a main terminal(100) such as a PC is linked to a sub-terminal(300) such as a PC. A plurality of sub-controllers(400) are constructed in a bus-type structure employing a multimedia dedicated line. The main terminal(100) transmits/receives a video through the main controller(200). The main terminal(100) is equipped with communication devices such as a microphone, a speaker, or a head-set. The communication device is directly connected to the main controller(200). The sub-terminal(300) transmits/receives a video through the sub-controller. The sub-terminal is equipped with the communication device. The communication device is directly connected to the sub-controller. The main controller blocks a transmission/reception path between the main controller and a specific group among M groups including N sub-controllers and then transmits a group image output signal to a representative sub-controller of a corresponding group and a group image reception signal to other sub-controllers.
