A method and system for providing location information of a group member are provided to invite a new member according to a request of a group member and inform an existing member about the subscription of the new member in response to an invitation message. A subscriber, to which location information will be provided, is registered as a group member(310). Location information of a mobile terminal of the registered group member is grasped(320). The recognized location information is provided to mobile terminals of group members(330). The mobile terminal displays locations of each group member on a map.
