A pencil lead cartridge and a writing instrument assembled with the same are provided to extend the use time of a rod-shaped material until the pencil lead cartridge is exchanged and to assemble a rod-shaped material projecting tool to the pencil lead cartridge integrally by forming a spiral groove on the inner peripheral surface of a case forming a pencil lead tank. A pencil lead cartridge(10) provided with a pencil lead tank(12a) and detachably assembled to a writing instrument to supply a pencil lead has a rod-shaped material projecting tool projecting and inserting a rod-shaped material(18) by a rotary motion. The rod-shaped material projecting tool comprises a spiral groove(12h) formed on the inner peripheral surface of a case(12) forming the pencil lead tank; a guide cylinder(14) installed in the case to turn without moving for the case in an axial direction and provided with a guide hole(14b) extended in an axial direction; and a support piece(16) slidably fitted to the guide hole of the guide cylinder and provided with a male screw(16c) thread-joined with the spiral groove. The case is not rotated together with an outer cylinder of the writing instrument when the rod-shaped material is supported by the support piece and assembled to the writing instrument, and a portion of the guide cylinder is protruded from the writing instrument and rotated.
