Aircraft`s minimal flight altitude monitoring method for use in terrain awareness and warning system, involves generating alert message based on relative position of vertical flight profile with respect to minimal vertical flight profile

The method involves calculating a vertical flight profile depicting evolution in altitude of an aircraft (61) by considering an angle of climb and a speed of the aircraft. A minimal vertical flight profile (82) depicting evolution in minimal flight altitude on future route of the aircraft is calculated by considering course and the speed. Minimal altitude values are determined to cover the route by disks (70-75) centered on points of the route using requests to a database. An alert message is generated based on a relative position of the vertical profile with respect to the profile (82). An independent claim is also included for a device for monitoring a minimum flight altitude of an aircraft.
