The hygrometer has a measuring zone (3) receiving a specimen carrier container (4) containing a sample substance (2) to be analyzed by hygrometry. An upstream storage zone (10) receives the container and a conveyor unit (11) that automatically transfers the container from the storage zone to the measuring zone. The storage zone has a containment unit (12) which prevents or limits exposure of ambient air to the substance contained in the container. An independent claim is also included for a method for evaluating humidity of a substance by hygrometry.
