The roof has a sliding part i.e. flexible canvas (12) provided between arches and displaced between disengaged and covering positions. The part slides between the arches and is folded by translation for covering a vehicle e.g. passenger car. The part is formed of two parts connected by a joint. Rear of the part is connected to a rear window (18) that is mobile in translation. An assembly (100) constituted by the sliding part and the window is displaced by translation towards the front of the roof. The window forms a deflector, in a front position of the assembly.
