A device and a method for controlling usage of a memory card are provided to provide the memory card which is configured to be operated conditional on authorization from a corresponding compatible secured card. A memory card(10) comprises the followings: a memory(16) for storing data; and a controller(14) which is operated in order to control access to a storage of at least a portion of the memory, conditional upon authorization from a corresponding identity card of a service provider. The identity card is an SIM(Subscriber Identity Module) card. The identity card is an RUIM(Removable User Identity Module) card. The service provider is a mobile communication network service provider.
